One of the highlights of my London trip was undoubtedly my visit to the special Masterpiece London Art Fair, where some of the worlds finest art–from elaborate paintings to vintage Rolls Royce’s to even antique Cartier jewelry was showcased in hopes of making sales to collectors and buyers. I was lucky enough to have been able to attend such an event and I left with stars in my eyes; remembering exactly why art, craftsmanship, and design by hand are some of the most valuable skills in a world that is increasingly seeing a surge in automation. There are some things that robots simply cannot imitate, and real art is high up on that list. Here are some of my personal favorite items that were on exhibit:
To be entirely honest, I did not even get the best of the best captured in picture because I was busy either taking video footage of the beauties I saw via camera (to be in my vlog) OR was merely just standing and staring in awe. I sometimes was so lost in the intricacies of the pieces that I just had to stop, take a breath, and take it all in.
Truly, if you’re ever in London during the months of June/July, definitely try and find your way into the Masterpiece London Trade Fair. I know sometimes it’s invite-only but I believe they do sell tickets to the public for a decent price–and trust me it’ll be entirely worth it. You’ll leave inspired to create whatever it is you create best.
XOXO,
-MS
