I can’t tell you how many people have warned me, growing up, against wearing black when the sun is shining. A lot of women like me, however, have wardrobes filled with the color black because realistically speaking, it is the most practical and versatile color ever. I’ve recently found that I’m still able to wear this color this season without suffering from intense heat stroke, and I wanted to share with you all how I put together my outfits incorporating some black items I have in my closet! Here goes…
A Black One-Shoulder Top Tucked Into High-Waisted Shorts

This is a look I wore to my best friend’s 20th birthday celebration where the dress code was pretty casual. Since the king of party-wear is the color black, I knew it was the perfect occasion to break out my one-shoulder Michael Kors ruffle top, which you can find here. Plus, the Louis Vuitton belt I’m wearing actually reverses to it’s flip side of all black leather–which is so cool! A black belt is something that wont make you overheat as much as wearing black clothes would. Check out the Louis Vuitton reversible 35mm belt I’m wearing here.
A Plain Black Tee and Not-So-Tight Leggings

Tee and Leggings: @Zara
Bag: @GivenchyOfficial Shoes: @Prada
This is an outfit I wore on my semi-off day when I went grocery shopping. Extremely easy and comfy! The key to wearing a COMPLETE black look in summer is knowing when you aren’t going to be out in the sun the entire day. Had I have had a day in the sun planned, this probably wouldn’t have been as ideal, haha. Anyways, both the tee and the leggings are from none other than Zara! I usually will only get basics that will stand the test of time from Zara nowadays, because I know the end-of-life cycle for their clothes is not the best. As you probably know, Zara is known for fast fashion, and I’d rather purchase items from there that will last me longer than the company’s anticipated wear of very few times (due to a change in trends).
Also, as you probably noticed, I wore the same shoes in both looks above. Black shoes will always be a must-have in a woman’s closet. No matter the season, these generally will serve you extremely well as they go with pretty much every casual outfit you wear. The shoes I’m wearing in both images above are from Prada, and you can find them here.
I hope this advice gave you some ideas about how to bring back the black, AKA the most versatile color, into your daily looks! Until next time…
XOXO,
-MS
