I’m just like you. Some days, I wake up totally uninspired and have absolutely no idea what to wear, and that’s why I like to create rules of thumb when it comes to fashion. One rule of thumb: a monochrome look with a twist always makes heads spin. And on days that I’m completely down in the dumps in terms of inspiration, I always go back to black.

Jacket: @anthropologie, Turtleneck: @bananarepublic
Makeup wise, I kept it pretty simple. My eye shadow was from the Smashbox ShapeMatters palette, and my lip color was a blend of a few colors from my Smashbox Be Legendary lip palette. I got mine a while ago from Nordstrom, but they’re still available on eBay and the like.
But lets get back to the outfit–I wore black pants from Uniqlo with a black turtleneck, and worked in a pale Free People jacket from Anthropologie. What I love about this jacket is that it is a shade that’s somewhere in-between green and beige with some super subtle camo print on the collar. Could we call this look mono-chramo? Now, I’m not a huge fan of rules and guidelines, but I have to say monochrome rule is one that I’ve seen work across generations. In fact, my personal icon, Audrey Hepburn, was basically the poster-child for an all black look.
Though, I’m curious to know, how would you guys add your own personal flair to a monochrome look?
XOXO,
