Day 1 // Outfit 2: Orange with All Black
You could say that with this look, I was inspired by Halloween. I love the idea of a statement color in a monochrome look, so I decided to play it safe by making the base color for this outfit black, yet still let my orange jeans do the speaking. In this image, the jeans looks a bit more like a red-orange, but in reality they take on a color that resembles that of a pumpkin (hence, the Halloween inspiration). The jeans were from Free People, while my sweater was from Rebecca Taylor. If you read my last post regarding NYFW Outfit 1, you know that I believe in wearing the best accessories I own. So, with this look I wore black Roger Vivier pumps with the iconic rectangular logo, and threw on my Tods bag in animal print. I made sure that both of these, along with the necklaces I wore, matched in terms of silver hardware to make the entire look cohesive. Lastly, I borrowed my mother’s vintage western belt, and sun + moon earrings from her teenage years. I seriously owe my mom a lot of credit when it comes to my unique accessories–she was the queen of collecting jewelry and belts.
As you can see, changing from one outfit to another sometimes get’s me in a tizzy. I feel like I totally transform in personality as my looks change!
All in all, this second look from Day 1 of NYFW was simple yet statement with the bold pop of color. Do you think this was playing it too safe or was it just enough to land a chance to get streetstyled? (For those of you who are confused by this term, it basically means getting photographed and landing on popular NYFW street style Instagram pages and magazine reports).
