Let’s face it—winter on the East Coast is colorless. With bare trees, cold winds, and grey skies, how can one be expected to wake up and feel enough winter cheer to stay motivated and conquer full days?
The true colors of a jolly winter spirit, then, should be channeled via fashion! Inspire yourself through snow and ice; baby blue is the perfect color to pick up on this season, and adding your own extra colorful flair to it makes it all the more upbeat.
I wore this crop sweater from Saved By The Dress with my new High-Rise Flare jeans from Paige. The stripes on the sweater had several colors I could use to match my makeup to. I decided to pick up on yellow for eyeshadow (from my BH Cosmetics Desert Oasis Palette), and then used my Bobbi Brown lipstick in the shade Vixen Red. Red also was present in these particularly statement earrings by Les Georgettes by Altesse. The remaining two colors where white and black, and since I also do have black hair, I chose to complete the look with black sunglasses from LoomRack and my pair of black Ted Baker heels. I love that not only did pairing these heels with my extra long flare pants made my legs look like towers, but also that (even if barely visible), these pointy heels matched the pointy sunglasses and added a formal touch to this otherwise overly casual look. Plus, if nothing else, slicked back hair always does the trick for elevating casual attire.
I was truthfully surprised by how many colors I was able to pull off in this look, especially given that my base was not a white or a black, but instead a baby blue. So, weather or not you’re experiencing the winter blues (depending on where you are in the world), there’s no better time than the present to use blue as a building block for fun, versatile style.
