Colors are manifestations of our innermost feelings. When you’re feeling particularly upbeat (or want to, for that matter), wearing a melange of colors is more than appropriate—and there are ways of “making it rainbow,” subtly.

On a day out and about here in LA, shopping on Rodeo Drive, I decided to wear this multicolor striped top from Patrizia Pepe (via YOOX), paired with a suede jacket from Sandro Paris, a vintage Fendi bag that belonged to my grandmother, straight leg jeans, and lastly, a pair of bubble pink Roger Vivier flats. Wow—that was a mouthful.

Initially, I was inclined to opt for a denim jacket to match my denim jeans, but decided that playing it so safe was not the better option given my mood. Recently, I’ve been challenging myself to become a bit more experimental and daring with my fashion sense, and I do think it’s allowed me to express myself a lot better. A little note: don’t let anyone tell you that there’s a right and wrong in fashion—fashion is art; it’s beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You will always have the first look at your outfits, and you alone are the chief judge of their aesthetic appeal. Remember to respect your choices and opinions in fashion, and know that they stem from (whether conscious or not) beliefs, values, and/or feelings.

XOXO,
