As I transitioned to the sunny Dominican Republic, the hardest shift was letting go of my tendency to remain totally covered. From freezing Boston to a warm 80 degrees, the changeover was huge.
Still, my outfit served me well—I didn’t break even one sweat walking around Santo Domingo because although I was covered, the pieces were airy and loose-fitting. While this is not your conventional warm weather outfit, I must say it saved me from uninvited tanning that day.

I opted for a sophisticated meets casual look with slicked back hair, retro sunglasses, Abercrombie straight leg jeans, a Louis Vuitton belt, and a Jaspal top. The two most important pieces, however, that actually served me perfectly for a good portion of this tropical vacation, were my Prada espadrilles and Marc Jacobs purse. I’m so glad I brought these on my trip because they’re completely beach and warm weather inspired!

The sophisticated aspect of the look served me well because we visited a lot of important historical and religious sites, so being somewhat covered up and well put together was fitting. From the Basilica Cathedral of Santa Maria la Menor, the Museo de las Casas Reales, to the stunning Columbus lighthouse, the day excursion in Santo Domingo proved to be culture and history filled. Little did I know that my travels to Punta Cana would include much more than just relaxing and sitting by the beach!
