I’m always looking for easy tips and tricks to look glamorous, and I know many of you, too, are probably often pressed for time in this regard. Thus, it goes without saying that it pays to find easy ways to put together a luxe, sophisticated outfit whether it be for a night out, or simply for days when you’re totally feeling yourself and want to appear as put together as possible. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been figuring out how I can incorporate the color most of us have a ton of in our closets–black–into my outfits to create more posh-appearing outfits. So, I wanted to share with you all three really easy luxe looks that you can recreate with key black pieces!
All Black + Colored Pants

Pink Linen Pants: Asos
Top: Emporio Armani
Eyeshadow: Smashbox ShapeMatters Palette
Truthfully, I used to always run and grab a pair of black jeans whenever I didn’t know what pants to pair a top with. However, on this specific day, I had an event to go to at The Real Real that started before it would get dark, so I knew I wanted to bring in some lighter colors, especially since the beautiful season of Spring is upon us. The event ran pretty long, but this worked in my favor since, really, any look that has even a few elements of black always works from day to night. When putting together this outfit, I started by picking out a pair of pink colored pants that I hardly wear, choosing my favorite black boots, and then building the rest of my look on top of that. You can certainly try this combination of a black top, dark eyelid, and black boots with any colored pant you have! Bonus points if you’re able to match the color of your pants to your lipstick!

Low-Neck Filled With Shimmer

Jumpsuit: Black Halo
Bag: Roger Vivier
Turtleneck: Patrizia Pepe
I received this gorgeous jumpsuit from a Los Angeles based luxury brand called Black Halo, and I knew immediately I wanted to wear it. The quality was so fine and I just had a feeling it would feel like a nice hug when I put it on. However, I’m not someone that’s ultra comfortable with showing that much cleavage, so I was a bit disheartened when I put it on and realized it had a more than liberal neckline. Thankfully, my innovative thinking cap came on and I was able to come up with the idea of wearing my sleeveless multi-color shimmery turtleneck right under. And–whenever I have a turtleneck on–my default hairstyle is a middle part slick-back of some kind, so I opted for one of my signatures: a low bun. Makeup-wise, I again decided to go for a dark eyeshadow and light pink lip look for a night out. To match the shimmer on my turtleneck, I knew my accessories had to be carry a subtle shine as well, so I grabbed my favorite pair of Louboutin gold heels and paired it with a golden Roger Vivier bag and Bulgari Serpenti Watch.

Stolen From My Pops

Sweater/Top: Talbots
Pants: Ann Taylor
Boots: Chanel
Being experimental with items from men’s collections is something you know I’m super fond of if you’ve been with me on this blog. Whenever I feel like I might need a little change in wardrobe, instead of going shopping, I love raiding my father’s closet first–he’s always happy to share his clothes with me because, well, I’m the best daughter ever. Just kidding, haha. Anyhow, this outfit was born out of my yearning to wear his navy blue Calvin Klein shirt along with my favorite wide leg black business pants. I knew I wanted to wear them in a more interesting way, though. As a base, I wore a black long-sleeve fitted sweater, then layered on my father’s shirt and buttoned just the topmost notch, allowing my black sweater to be seen. I tucked both these items into my black business pants and finished off the look with my blue and black Chanel booties, and side-parted, slicked back hair. PS: I also used a new underground blue mascara that YSL beauty gifted me and I think it worked so well with this look!
Overall, I think there are a few running themes when it comes to creating easy, luxurious looks. First, slicking back your hair in some form always goes a long way because it helps frame your face, while pulling focus to the fit and cut of your outfit. On this note, it’s always important to make sure you’re incorporating well-fitted items into your posh outfits: these are what really give the effect of a truly “put together” ensemble. Lastly, balancing out your makeup is essential–make sure that if you’re doing a dark eye, that your lip is extremely subtle, or vice versa.
I hope you found some inspiration in these outfits and tips to easily create your next luxe look!
Until next time…
XOXO,
