Long socks…I’m sure we all have a few pairs hiding away in our closet, and are often at a loss of ideas when it comes to styling them. Recently, I’ve been finding that playing around with longer-than-normal socks can actually be exciting! A quick fun fact: adding more layers to your look always photographs better (and keeps you warmer–wow, a double win)! So, why not try out a few new ways to add these to your next look? To help inspire you to do so, here are a few easy ways to incorporate long socks in your next outfit:
Hide Them Under Knee-High Boots for Extra Warmth

Bag: Stella McCartney
Just look how perfect you can make a glam outfit appear without having to freeze during a cold December night! Trading in your ankle length socks for long socks underneath long boots is something I find others overlook far too often. The next time you’ve got a New Years or Christmas party to attend that will see you outdoors in the evening, remind yourself that it’s time to pull out the longer socks.
Try The Under-Heel Color Match

Jeans: Free People
Jacket: Keepsake The Label via Anthropologie
Top: Jaspal
Neutral socks, neutral heels, neutral top. I know, I know. I said in my last blog post that peep toes were out and pointed toes were in, and here I am showing you a picture of myself sporting my favorite pair of peep-toes. I have to say I cheat on my trends from time to time, but I’m making more of an effort not to. The good news is, you can still carry on this concept of wearing longer socks under your pointed toe heels–it looks just as fabulous (if not better). The secret behind pulling this off is in the color/shades–make sure the three (the socks, the heels, and the top) are all different shades, but in the same color family.
Take Out Some Thigh-Highs For Under Wider Leg Jeans

Jeans: Uniqlo
Turtleneck: Uniqlo
Bag: Vintage Fendi
Cardigan: Victoria’s Secret
Thigh-high socks are the perfect footwear choice when you’re looking to cover a bit more skin than with a pair of knee highs, but don’t want to wear full tights. Plus, if you’re like me and use them primarily for warmth, you don’t have to be wearing a super short skirt or short dress to wear them! They work just as well under wide leg or straight leg jeans (as shown above). Here’s one place you can find a great pair of long thigh high socks to your liking. I’m more of a “Plain Jane” when it comes to socks, but for those that want to get creative and colorful with their sock choices, this site will definitely satisfy you.
Want to know which pair of socks I’d like to add to my wardrobe for 2020? Here’s my pick:
I know I already have something a bit similar (shown in my above orange-neutral outfit), but I have to say that I love these kinds of basic colors because they are perfect for all seasons. And if you’re an avid traveler like me, you never know when and where it’s going to start getting cold, so keeping a pair of neutral long socks to style year-round can totally pay off!
Cheers to upping our sock game this 2020!
XOXO,
