How to style blue? I’ve got the full guide for you here. It isn’t a secret that I’m partial to the color blue. Not only do I believe it to be my lucky color, but it’s one that instantly makes me feel calm when I have even just a hint of it on. Blue makes me feel centered, and let’s face it–at a time as uncertain as the one we’re living through, it’s the color we all need to learn to wear a little more of.
Since it is summer, I’m particularly into incorporating the lighter hues of the color–anything that reminds me either of the sky, or of the seas. Here’s my total and complete handbook on how to style blue–specifically sky and sea blues!
Nail it with Nail Shades
As someone who spends most of her day at home either typing, creating content, or cooking, for once I feel calm as I look over at my hands or see them move on camera. To achieve these peace-inducing nails, I used Essie’s 1608 Make A Splash polish and Olive + June’s polish in shade CNH.
Slip On A Satin Skirt
When you don’t want your legs to tan, but also need some air and a break from tight jeans, a skirt with a sheen like this is a perfectly put together way to make a statement. Also, how stunning is this cyan shade of blue? I got this skirt from my travels to Milan Fashion Week last year, from–believe it or not–H&M!
Add A Peep of Pastel As A Purse
I’m a big fan of playing with colors in my outfit. However, when I’ve got a lot going on in what I’m wearing on my body, I like to make sure my accessories aren’t as bold and bright of a color. Pastels are a great, subtle addition, and that’s why I love this powder blue Prada bag! You can find a similar one here.
Dare to Double Denim
Denim on denim is a mood I’ll never not be in. If I had it my way, I’d wear denim on denim way more than I do now. I think for variety’s sake, however, I try to experiment more on a day to day basis. This also helps me keep things fresh on the ‘gram for you guys. Here, I’m wearing a Nanushka Denim Top from REVOLVE with Blank NYC Jeans.
Keep Your Eyes On The Sea
Things get particularly interesting when I start to discover the shades between blue and green. This turquoise shade is a gorgeous standout for any standard casual look–whether it be all white, all black, all neutrals–you name it. If there’s one way to make the eyes pop, here it is. To achieve this, I used a mix of a shade or two on my ColorMates palette and a sparkly shade on my Pop Beauty Lightshow Eye Palette. A video on this to come soon–so stay tuned!
Well, my friends, I hope you’ve now got the lowdown on how to style blue. The next time you find yourself feeling blue, actually prop yourself up, head over to your closet, and wear the color. I’m sure it’ll help shift you to the more positive, calm vibe the color is known for as opposed to a more morose sense of the word.
Until next time, stay safe, stay healthy, and stay beautiful in blue!
XO,
-MS
