Fashion is a powerful medium–it helps you create an aura to access and feel like the highest version of yourself. Yet, a solid home decor can just do the trick on the days you’re too lazy to dress up. As I shared in one of my latest posts, I’m currently apartment hunting, but that doesn’t mean I’m waiting until then to spruce up my living space. My family and I have been trying to figure out a way to fill up the blank walls in the house, and I’m so excited to be partnering with Desenio to share how I, and more importantly, how you, can spruce up a space the stylish way!
Here are my top 3 tips, along with some home decor inspiration:
- Keep A Color Theme in Mind
Having a vision before you set out to search can save you a lot of time. When I started browsing on the Desenio website, I was set on subtle green, gold, black, and white to match with the rest of the decor in the house. You don’t necessarily need to match your home decor, but you should have some kind of cohesive aesthetic. Colors are the first place to start, but there’s a bit more you’ll have to keep in mind.
- Coordinate and Curate Like An Instagram Feed
Having been in the Instagram game for almost 3 years now, I’ve learned a thing or two about curating a feed. Let me be the first to tell you that I’m really not about having the most perfect grid, but I do think it’s important to keep variety in mind. When you post content to your page, pleasing the eye means having different kinds of perspectives present. Whether that’s shooting from different angles or sharing immaculate product shots here and there alongside your photos, you should have different pieces that contribute to a larger, succinct theme. Similarly, when you’re curating your wall art, ask yourself: what is it exactly that I want my art to say about me? Write down your answer to this question if you have to. Then, as you start to find artwork you like, ask yourself whether each piece contributes to the grander theme, and adds a new or different perspective. If yes, great! If no, keep searching.
- Quick Fix Quotes Are Essential
Speaking of perspectives and themes, one quick fix way to make your point clear with your wall art is to add a quote that reiterates it. Not only do words break the monotony of pictures on the wall, but a quote would really help tie the whole collage together. Personally, filling my mind with positive images of a fashionable, stylish life is what keeps me fueled throughout the day. Hence, this whole setup and that particular quote!
If you’re up for sprucing thing up in your space, I have a 25% discount on prints like mine. You can use the following code: STYLEBYMALVIKA for some fun wall art.
